This is for a marvelous model of the Texaco Tanker North Dakota.  A famous ship, it is worth looking up her history on the web.  This offering is in excellent condition missing only the radar mast that should sit atop the forward superstructure as far as I can see.  There is very minimal “play wear” on this piece.   Thank you for looking at my listing.  This comes from a non-smoking household.
This is the third Texaco Tanker that I’ve owned, this one for over thirty years in my collection.
The first one was a real treat.
Dad came home with it when they initially went on sale (he was a long time Texaco customer) and I was in love with it.
I decorated it with all manor of signal flags and couldn’t wait to sail her.
We eventually took her out on a lake not far from home one Sunday morning for her maiden voyage.
The wind was a bit gusty but Dad and I thought is should be no problem.
After all she did have an internal flotation tank.
On the other hand, Mom said to tie a string to her just in case.
Listen to Mom!!!
She got half way across the lake and the waves just overpowered her leaking water into the hull.
Had we put Styrofoam in her for buoyancy she would have floated.
However that was not the case.
I was crestfallen as she sank and really wanted another.
To my surprise it came the next summer while on vacation.
Gassing up Dad came out with a brand new one.
She survived for many years before “disappearing” from my parents house.
I’m glad to say that this one lasted longer.
